About Anju T Makin

Founder & Lead Facilitator, ManarraMind

The Story
A career that was always heading here

I spent 25 years in corporate communications, working with organisations across Delhi NCR on how they presented themselves to the world. In that time, I watched something consistently: the most significant failures in corporate teams were not strategic. They were human. Managers who could not communicate under pressure. Leaders who could not understand why their best people were leaving. Teams shaped by patterns no one had ever named.

I had always been drawn to the question of why people do what they do. When I completed an MA in Philosophy and Counselling Psychology, I found language for things I had observed across 35 years of professional life.

ManarraMind is what I built from that recognition. It takes psychological research — on how stress affects cognition, on what actually drives motivation, on how identity shapes leadership — and brings it into corporate rooms in a form that is honest, applicable, and designed for professionals who do not have time for anything that does not work.

The name ManarraMind combines the Arabic root manara — a lighthouse, a source of guidance — with Mind. It describes what I hope these sessions offer: a point of orientation. Not answers. A clearer view.

“What I really need is to get clear about what I must do, not what I must know — to find a truth which is truth for me.” — Kierkegaard, 1835.

This journal entry from 1835 is the philosophical spine of ManarraMind. The idea that the most important knowledge is the kind that changes what you do — not just what you know — is the principle behind every session we design and deliver.

Anju spent 35 years in corporates before completing an MA in Philosophy and Counselling Psychology. ManarraMind brings those two worlds together — the credibility of someone who has worked inside corporate India, and the academic foundation to explain the philosophy and psychology behind what she observed.
